Our Story
Assessment Systems Corporation (aka ASC or Assessment Systems) was founded with the sole purpose of modernizing assessments to create an equal distribution of educational and career opportunities.
David Weiss, Ph.D., and David Vale, Ph.D. – our founding fathers – were the pioneers of computerized adaptive testing (CAT) and the use of item response theory (IRT). They noticed that traditional assessment models were biased and flawed in many ways. The underserved many examinees while wasting time and producing inaccurate scores.
Their passion and commitment to re-inventing how we do educational and workforce assessment led to extensive funding from the US government as part of their groundbreaking research at the University of Minnesota.
Assessment Systems was hence born; To share this game-changing discovery with the world.
Who We Are
Assessment Systems Corporation has been a trusted provider in computerized testing since its inception. We were involved with the first research on computerized assessment in the 1960s and 1970s, and built the first publicly available software for adaptive testing and item response theory in the early 1980s.
Our team is dedicated to improving assessment. Of course, a large part of this is quality software with modern psychometric technology. But we also provide extensive training and consulting services, where our expertise can be directly applied to your assessments. We help organizations all over the world to apply modern psychometrics to their assessment processes. We frequently present at industry conferences, and often travel to teach workshops on modern psychometrics, from Botswana to Kazakhstan to Singapore.
